Birubi Beach Walk

For those wanting something epic, Birubi Beach offers a 32 km stretch of unbroken ocean beach — one of the longest in NSW. The terrain is flat the whole way, so while it's long, it's not strenuous. The walk runs parallel to the ocean, so expect the sound of waves and sea breeze the entire time. On a clear day the views are stunning, and the beach is wild and largely empty beyond the first kilometre. Camel spotting: Port Stephens is one of the few places in Australia where you might encounter camels on the beach — they're used for beach rides nearby and occasionally wander the shoreline. Most visitors do a short out-and-back section rather than the full distance. Even 2–3 km each way gives you a real sense of the beach's scale and beauty. Start at Birubi Beach near the surf club.
