Tomaree Head Summit Walk

Tomaree Head Summit Walk is a 2.6 km return trail climbing to the 161 m summit of Tomaree Head inside Tomaree National Park — one of the most-visited walks on the NSW Mid North Coast. The ascent takes around 40–50 minutes and involves a mix of stairs and a steady climb on a sealed and compacted gravel path. At the summit are the remains of a World War II observation post and gun emplacement, built in 1942 to monitor Japanese submarine activity in Port Stephens. The 360° panorama from the top takes in Cabbage Tree Island, Broughton Island, Yacaaba Head across the bay, Fingal Spit, and the open Pacific Ocean to the east.
